Part of my last job and my current as a manager in retail consists of hiring employees. I see so many people, young and old, come and go. Of coarse there are many various reasons why, but the main issue I see from a manager's perspective is that most don't seem to care anymore.
Most want a maximum paycheck for doing the minimum amount of work.
What people like that don't realise is that every single thing they do is a direct reflection of who they are as a person and how they are perceived by others around them.
You can talk all day and night until you're blue in the face, but in the end, your actions will ALWAYS speak louder than your words. So tell me, what do your actions say?
Do you settle for mediocrity? Do you give up easily? Do you accept failure as being a part of the norm? Do you only do just enough to get by?
Working hard, earning what you have and taking pride in what you do pays off. It builds character, teaches you humility, makes you appreciative, strengthens your work ethic, gives you more confidence and ultimately makes you a better person.
Forget aiming for good, shoot for GREAT! Because the harder you work, the greater you feel with your accomplishment.
So apply yourself...
whether you're doing the dishes, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, taking out the garbage, helping out a neighbor, volunteering somewhere or working at your job, because your work ethic will be reflected in everything you do in life.
The great Walt Disney said it best with one simple sentence, "Whatever you do, do it well."
